Hotel wall ripped off in Bahamas during Hurricane Matthew
NASSAU, Bahamas (FOX 13) - A Baltimore couple saw the wall of their hotel room in the Bahamas peeling away and just minutes later, the wall was gone during Hurricane Matthew.
The storm, which has strengthened into a Category 4, pounded the Bahamas early Thursday.
Dave and Amanda Jenkins of Baltimore, who are on their honeymoon at the Riu Palace Paradise Island, were in their room when the wall started to break apart.
They left for a few minutes and returned to get their personal belongings and found the wall was missing. Video shows the wall completely gone and the wind and rain battering the hotel from the inside out.
The couple said everyone in the hotel was safe, but they're hoping to get home to be with their 4-year-old daughter as soon as possible. "We are having trouble with the airlines due to Nassau International being closed until further notice," they said.
