Look up tonight as a Supermoon will rise into the sky.  Nicknamed the Cold Moon as winter weather brings colder temperatures, the moon will only be 221,813 miles away from Earth.

Big picture view:

Tonight’s full moon phase will be at 8:13 p.m. EST and, according to NASA, at its closest point, a Supermoon can appear up to 30% brighter and 14% bigger than the faintest moon of the year.

What you can do:

The Supermoon can be glimpsed in clear night skies without any special equipment. But it can be tough to discern the subtle change with the naked eye.
