Body camera video shows fleeing suspect slams into Pasco deputy's vehicle

A fleeing suspect was speeding at nearly 70 mph when he crashed into a Pasco County deputy’s vehicle.

On Thursday, deputies said 29-year-old Justin Scott Capell committed a robbery near U.S. Highway 19 and Florida Avenue, and struck a vehicle while leaving the scene. Deputies saw the crash and initiated a short pursuit.

However, they ended the pursuit, officials said, as Capell was speeding up to 100 mph. He continued northbound, but lost control of his bright yellow vehicle, and crashed into Deputy Shannon Henrici’s patrol vehicle.

Body camera video showed the crash as debris flew and both vehicles ended up on the side of the road. The camera was worn by a Pasco County deputy who was driving behind Deputy Henrici. He was seen exiting his patrol car and running to the driver’s side of her car. She walked away from the crash with minor injuries.

Capell fled from the crash and into a nearby storage facility. He was tased and taken into custody.
