The body of a missing four-year-old from Port St. Lucie has been found, police said Monday morning.

A Missing Child Alert was issued for Chelsea Noel on Sunday. Around 11 p.m., a U.S. Marshal and member of the search team were on a kayak in a retention pond near SW Halmark Street and SW Abacus Avenue. That’s when the U.S. Marshal spotted what was believed to be a human body, police announced on its Facebook page.

Just before 1 a.m., the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s dive team responded and confirmed it was the four-year-old, police said.

Noel was described as non-verbal in the statewide alert and was last seen on SW Keats Street, which is less than half a mile from where the retention pond is located. The circumstances surrounding her disappearance are not yet clear.
