An arrest has been made after a cab driver was shot Wednesday night.

Tampa police said they responded to the area near North Nebraska Avenue and East Seward Street for a reported shooting around 11:25 p.m. When they found the victim, 43-year-old Dieunal Cherisca, they said it turned out to be a cab driver, who was shot during a struggle after a suspect attempted to rob him.

Cherisca has non-life threatening injuries, police said. A K9 team and air service found the suspect, 19-year-old Stephon Dye hiding in a nearby business. The K9 engaged with Dye, and there were some minor injuries to the suspect.

Dye was treated and transported to jail. He faces an aggravated battery charge.
