Caught on cam: Teen returns wallet with $1,500 inside
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A teenager in Sacramento, California is being praised for his honesty and kindness after returning a wallet with $1,500 in cash inside of it to the rightful owner.
Tyler Opdyke's good deed was captured on video by Melissa Vang's home security system.
She says Opdyke came to her door and rang the doorbell. He was seen on the video gesturing toward the camera mounted outside Vang's home, showing both sides of the wallet, including the part with the cash, then leaving the wallet outside her door and walking away.
Vang wrote in a post on Facebook that she didn't open the door after hearing the doorbell because it was a stranger, but she felt bad when she realized why he was there. "It's sad that I didn't trust him to open my door when he was just doing a good deed," she said. "I think we all need to be reminded that there are still good people out there."
Vang said she later tracked Opdyke down and rewarded him for his kind gesture. She gave him $150 for returning her husband's wallet.
"His act of kindness cannot go unrecognized. Thank you Tyler," she wrote.
