Clarkdale man arrested for dragging dog behind truck for a half mile
COTTONWOOD, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Clarkdale resident, Destry Lynn McClure, 52, has been arrested for dragging his 4-year-old Chihuahua, Leia, about half of a mile.
She was tied up and dragged behind his truck from Riverfront Park in Cottonwood.
Leia was immediately taken to the local veterinary office. Most of her injuries consist of road rash, and an initial assessment showed there were no internal injuries or broken bones.
She will remain there for 24 to 48 hours.
Officers said they suspect McClure may have been under the influence of alcohol and possibly prescription medication.
McClure was booked into the Yavapai County Detention Center on charged of animal cruelty and driving under the influence. Additional charges pending McClure's blood results.
Police said McClure claims he forgot she was back there.
