Clearwater firefighters rescue bird found tied to a tree
CLEARWATER (FOX 13) - Clearwater first responders had a wild rescue on their hands over the weekend.
Crews with the city’s fire department saved a bird who was stuck in a tree in the 1100 block of Druid Road. It’s a bird known as an anhinga, sometimes called a snakebird because of its long neck. Firefighters said it was hanging in the tree with a rope caught in and around its beak.
It’s not clear how the bird ended up there, but firefighters brought a ladder to help bring the bird down to land. The bird was taken to the Owls Nest Bird Sanctuary, and it is expected to make a fully recovery.
