Crash involving FHP trooper closes westbound lanes of Gandy Bridge
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A crash closed all westbound lanes on the Gandy Bridge Sunday afternoon. The Florida Highway Patrol says one of its troopers was involved in the crash.
Several people were taken from the scene by ambulance, but it is unclear how many people were injured in the crash or the extent of their injuries.
Officials turned around westbound traffic that was at a standstill rather than have drivers wait for the road to reopen.
Drivers were asked to seek alternate routes such as the Courtney Campbell Causeway or the Howard Frankland Bridge.
