A suspected car burglar and credit card thief was caught thanks to his apparent love for fast food, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives say it started with a bunch of car break-ins in the northwest Bradenton area.

It was happening just about every morning. The burglar broke into cars that were unlocked and stole a number of a credit cards.

Investigators started putting together a trail using a tip from the public, plus purchases made on the cards. They noticed a lot of those cards were being used at fast food restaurants.

And that's where they found Charles Mobley, Jr. Deputies say they tracked him to a Burger King and were able to arrest him while he was waiting in the drive-thru.

“Ironically he had been making a lot of charges at fast food restaurants with stolen cred cards,” said Randy Warren with the Manatee Co. Sheriff’s Office. “Another classic example of why people need to lock their car. It wasn’t just stealing small items out of a car this ends up costing the victim a lot. There were credit cards, gift cards. They’re out there racking up all of these charges.”

Investigators say they found other suspected stolen goods on Mobley, which could lead to additional charges.

He now faces a number of felony charges and detectives are still investigating working to see if he’s connected to any other cases.
