The search is on Monday morning for a suspect in an overnight shooting that may have targeted a pair of Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says it happened outside of Good Time Charlie’s Pub on Waters Avenue, just east of Dale Mabry Highway around 1:30 a.m.

The pair of deputy supervisors reportedly heard shots fired and had to duck for cover.

“Two of our deputies were meeting outside their cars here in the parking lot- in the area doing different business checks throughout the night as they normally do- and they heard gunshots,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Major Chad Chronister. “[They were] close enough to where they felt they were being shot at.”

One of the deputies dove into the patrol parked nearby for cover. Neither of them were injured.

Detectives and crime scene technicians have been at the scene since. So far, two holes have been found in the glass of a nearby business. They say it is unclear what time of weapon caused the holes at this time.

The shooter remains on the loose.

Officials ask anyone with information in this case to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
