A new Chick-fil-A opened in Wesley Chapel, and once again, people were prepared to camp out for free meals.

The fast food chain added a new location at 28295 State Road 54 in Wesley Chapel. Hours before it officially opened Thursday morning, it restaurant was surrounded by tents. Chick-fil-A offered the first 100 people in line to receive a gift card, which would be good for 52 meals. One to last them every week for the next year.

Some people said they always go to grand openings, and even attended one the day before.

“We’ve been out here for the last 12 hours, camping out in the parking lot,” said Doug Leist. “They had the same ground opening down on Fowler (Avenue). We actually all got there around 6 a.m. in the morning, got on charter buses and went and did volunteer work. Prior to that we did one in Lutz with that grand opening.”

“A lot of folks here do a lot of them,” he added.

Leist said they have games and a DJ to keep customers happy, but then there is a “quiet hour” to sleep.

“It’s so much fun,” he said. “A lot of folks we made good friends with that we’ve seen in other places.”
