A Halloween decoration had neighbors of a home in West Fargo, North Dakota so concerned, one of them called 911.

The decoration was a sign in the window that said “Help Me,” meant to look as if it were written in blood.

Becky Muhs and her husband live in the home. She said Halloween is her favorite holiday.

It also happens to be their wedding anniversary.

Muhs said she wanted to get a jump-start on decorating and one of the first items she put up was the sign.

That night, the couple went out to dinner. Meanwhile, their neighbor noticed the sign and wasn’t about to take any chances.

“I look across the street and I see in my neighbor's window, the sign that says help me,” neighbor Jay Thomas said. “That window has always had the curtains drawn. So I'm like, ‘What's going on in here?’”

He called 911 and then he called Muhs.

“I didn't answer and 15 minutes later, he's like, ‘Are you OK? Are you OK? Are you at home?’” Muhs said.

She was OK, and the officer who showed up told the couple this happens all the time.

“To my defense, there were no other Halloween decorations out there,” Thomas said, jokingly.

Officers did not ask them to take down the sign.
