Firetruck struck by vehicle on way to deadly Pasco County crash: FHP

A firefighter on his way to a fatal crash in Pasco County on Wednesday night suffered minor injuries in a vehicle crash. 

What we know:

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 35-year-old firefighter was traveling southbound on Little Road in a Pasco County firetruck, with lights and sirens on, shortly before 7:30 p.m. on his way to a deadly crash. 

As he turned left onto the private drive of 9426 Little Road, troopers say a 53-year-old Spring Hill man who was traveling on Little Road at a high rate of speed crashed into the firetruck.

The Spring Hill man was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The firefighter suffered minor injuries in the crash and was not taken to the hospital. 

Dig deeper:

The firefighter was on his way to assist in an earlier crash at the intersection of Little Road and San Miguel Drive that left two people dead and two others injured.

Troopers say a Dodge Ram that was traveling at a high rate of speed struck a Toyota 4Runner that turned in its path. 

Post-impact, the Dodge Ram overturned and caught fire. 

The driver of the Toyota as well as a passenger were killed in the crash. 

The driver of the Dodge Ram and another passenger in the Toyota were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. 

What we don't know:

The names of those involved in the crash have not yet been released.
