Five thieves stole $1,000 worth of cigars from Ybor City store

Clear surveillance video caught a bunch of alleged cigar thieves looting an Ybor City business.

The owner of Long Ash Cigars says five men stole about $1,000 worth of cigars from his humidor.

“You’re upset because of the value of what’s stolen but also it’s a violation you feel,” said Michael Cincunegui.

There are three cameras inside the humidor. At one point, all the men look at one - in unison - yet they continue to grab as many cigars as they can.

During the video, an older man appears to hand a bunch to what appears to be a teenager.

“I hate that the older people in the group are influencing the young kids to do this stuff that a terrible message to send to the youth,” Cincunegui said. “They knew exactly what they were doing they came in got as much as they could and got out."

The owner doubts this is their first rodeo. He is warning other Ybor City shops to be on alert.

“I don’t want this to happen to any other business owners or anyone else out there it’s not a good feeling to be taken advantage of,” he said.  “This is a mom and pop business we’ve worked hard to get where we’re at."

There is a $3,000 reward for information on the case that leads to an arrest.

Anyone with information on their identities or whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-800-873-8477.
