Florida mom accused of leaving boy in hot car while shopping
DAYTONA (FOX) - A Florida mother was charged with child neglect after allegedly leaving her 5-year-old son inside her car while she went shopping.
Colleen Walker bonded out of the Volusia County Jail on Friday after being arrested. Police say she left her son inside her car last week as she went shopping for nearly a half-hour inside a Dollar General in south Daytona.
Walker, 30, wasn't thrilled to see news crews when she left jail.
"I don't want to be on camera,” she said.
When offered the chance to tell her side of the story, she declined to elaborate.
"My side of the story is people need to mind their own [expletive] business, that's the side of the story," she said as she climbed into a waiting car.
A passerby saw the young boy sweating and panicking inside the car, and called police.
Citing jail records, FOX 35 in Orlando reported that Walker has had several prior arrests, including possession of cocaine and tampering with evidence.
