Gas prices reach 7-month low in Florida: AAA

TAMPA, Fla. - Florida drivers are now paying less at the pump than they have in seven months, according to AAA, with those prices poised to set a new 2023 low.
The state gas price average dropped 10 cents per gallon last week to reach $3.23 per gallon on Sunday, according to AAA. That marks the lowest daily average price since early March and only 1 cent more than the lowest daily average price recorded in 2023, which was $3.22 on March 6.

AAA reported the state's average has declined for the most part over the last 34 days, declining a total of 46 cents per gallon over that span.
"Gas prices are still following the downward momentum created by the seasonal downturn in fuel demand, coupled with stronger gasoline supplies and the switch to cheaper winter blend gasoline," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA - The Auto Club Group. "However, the continued streak of declines is threatened by a second week of rising oil and gasoline futures prices."
Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater clocked in as the third least expensive metro market for gasoline in the state, with drivers paying an average of $3.13 per gallon.
AAA cited the U.S. price of oil making a small 1% uptick last week due to the conflict between Israel and Hamas overseas.
