Health advisories issued for three Bay Area beaches
TAMPA, Fla. - The Department of Health has issued a health advisory for several Tampa Bay beaches because of high bacteria levels.
Samples taken at Bahia Beach, Ben T. Davis Beach, and Cypress Point Beach are showing elevated levels of enterococci bacteria, and the water is closed to swimmers.
Enteric bacteria is an indication of fecal pollution, according to the Department of Health, which could have occurred from storm water runoff, pets, wildlife or human sewage.
The water will be tested again on Monday, March 21.
