Ten dogs from Puerto Rico are now in Tampa Bay hoping to find their forever homes.

Hurricanes Maria forced the dogs from their homeland. A facility in Puerto Rico is still recovering and has an influx of animals.

Monday, employees from the Humane Society of Tampa Bay drove down to Fort Lauderdale to pick up the pups. The Humane Society of Tampa Bay says the dogs are healthy and friendly. Some of the 10 dogs could be made available for adoption as soon as Tuesday.

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay said interested owners can monitor the adoptable dogs section of their website

In April, the shelter took in 22 stray dogs from Puerto Rico and helped them find new homes.
