Lakeland police identify man whose body was found in alligator's mouth
LAKELAND, Fla. - The man whose body was found in the mouth of a Lakeland alligator this week was identified.
Lakeland police said Richard Zachary Taylor, 72, was the man whose body was pulled from Lake Hunter Tuesday after a 911 caller reported seeing an alligator with a body in its mouth.
Lakeland police say Taylor was homeless and they don't know if the alligator killed him or if he was already dead. Police said a medical examiner would determine his exact cause of death.
The alligator was later captured and killed.
