MACOMB, Mich. (WJBK) - He's the little boy who captured our hearts raising money for kids fighting cancer after losing one of his best friends.
Connor Nicol was back outside today refusing to let the extreme heat stop him from keeping her memory alive.
Thursday was a busy day on Freedom Valley Drive in Macomb. Connor was holding a garage sale and lemonade stand to raise money to buy toys for children going through cancer treatment.
The inspiration behind the fundraiser? Connor's friend Ella who passed away from cancer last year at 3 years old.
"I love baby Ella, we used to blow bubbles, play, play sports," Connor said of Ella.
FOX 2 first introduced you to Connor on Tuesday and his story touched a lot of people.
"We wanted to come congratulate him for helping society like that," said one woman at the lemonade sale.
Throughout the day people stopped by to meet Connor, donate money and get some cold lemonade.
"There's so much going on in the world, in the news, this was just a good story," said Ron Chriss, DTE. "A little boy teaching us there is some greatness in the world today. How can you not join in and help this guy out."
And a special surprise for this little superman from the guys at DTE Energy - a VIP tour of an official DTE truck.
"I told Connor since he was a little boy that he was going to change the world," said Drew Nicol, Connor's father. "He actually said that the other day. I asked him what he wanted to do and he said to change the world."
Connor has raised thousands of dollars and all the money will be donated to the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor.
"For a little guy to be touched," said grandfather John Tosch. "We are touched."
Donations can be mailed to Connor's family at 47380 Freedom Valley Drive in Macomb, 48044.
