Man accused of stealing neighbor's debit card

"I'm still angry," said Terri Colburn.

The Spring Hill resident is a Type 1 diabetic.

Back on July 5th, a diabetic emergency forced her to the hospital.  It's at that time that Hernando County deputies say her neighbor and one-time friend Shawn Exposito got a hold of her debit card.

"He is scum of the earth," said Colburn.

Deputies say Exposito racked up nearly $3200 worth of fraudulent charges while Colburn was in the hospital.  One of the stops he made was at Rural King, a farm supply store.  He appeared to be taking full advantage of Colburn's illness.

After the alleged theft, Exposito left the area and stayed in St. Petersburg.  Deputies tracked him down and arrested him on Sunday.  He's charged with fraudulent use of a credit card, criminal use of personal identification and grand theft.

"You've just got to be careful - you've got to know what your friends' motives are," said Hernando County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Denise Moloney.

Exposito was released from jail on $6000 bond.
