MetroCon invades Tampa
TAMPA (FOX 13) - MetroCon is taking over downtown Tampa and the Tampa Convention Center this weekend.
“It’s pretty much a geek mecca,” said Metrocon owner Alex Craddock. “We’ve got something that'll appeal to anybody,” he added.
From Japanese Anime, to Cosplay, it's all there. More than 10,000 guests are expected to attend.
“I love the atmosphere the people the shopping the cosplay you see it’s so much,” said Metrocon veteran Samantha Lang.
Ryan Paulson dressed as a character from the video game BioShock 2. His outrageous ensemble was all made by hand. “I have people who are losing their minds over their outfits,” he said.
For Tampa tattoo artist Oscar Soriano, MetroCon is a mix of work and play. “What we do is a lot animated cartoon tattoos. This is the primary example of cartoon stuff. Look around its amazing ,” he said.
The event runs all weekend long. Tickets for Saturday are $30. Metrocon has about a $3.5 million economic impact on the Tampa Bay areal.
