NASA scientists joined the Halloween festivities and created some out-of-this world pumpkins.

The rocket scientists at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California created the designs, with themes ranging from 'War of the Worlds' to Cookie Monster.

Teams had an hour to create the most elaborate jack-o-lanterns possible, but they also spent six months planning their designs. Some of the highlights included a Mars rover, an E.T. pumpkin, and a black hole pumpkin.

NASA has an instruction manual online for anyone who wants to step up their pumpkin-carving game, which can be found by clicking here
