New Goody Goody brings vintage sign back to Tampa

TAMPA (FOX 13) - A Tampa landmark is getting a makeover.

The famous Goody Goody sign that stood on N. Florida Avenue for decades will be refurbished and erected at the new location of the locally-famous burger restaurant at Swann and Dakota in Old Hyde Park Village.

The sign is being refurbished at Thomas Sign & Awning company in Clearwater.

It's the same company that re-created the Columbia Restaurant's "1905'' sign. 

Richard Gonzmart, the owner of Columbia and Ulele, plans to open Goody Goody this Spring in Hyde Park.

Gonzmart said he used to go to Goody Goody as a child with his parents. It was one of the first drive-in restaurants in the country, first opening in Tampa in 1925.
