Opening Day at San Quentin's Field of Dreams

Inside the walls of San Quentin State Prison in California, the Giants and the A's have started their season. Not the World Series champions or their cross-bay rivals, though. These guys have a real-life murderer's row.

There's no perfectly manicured grass or thousands of fans cheering them on; just sunshine and baseball. Just like the real Giants and A's, the National Anthem is played before the game. And yes, there are definitely hecklers.

For the most part, the teams play free men who willingly go inside prison walls to play them. There's one exception though: Opening Day.

The start of the season is reserved for the prison yard rivalry. Cellmate vs cellmate. Brother vs brother.

On this Opening Day, the teams agreed to allow some special guests inside: The Americans with Charlie LeDuff.

No taxpayer money goes to funding the baseball program. It is paid entirely by donations.
