Howard Frankland Bridge northbound lanes to close overnight on Monday and Tuesday
TAMPA, Fla. - FDOT is urging overnight travelers on the Howard Frankland Bridge to add 30 minutes of travel time to their commutes ahead of expected road closures on Monday and Tuesday nights.
Why you should care:
Starting nightly on Monday, Feb. 10, and Tuesday, Feb.11, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., northbound travel lanes on I-275 toward the Howard Frankland Bridge will detour off the interstate using Gandy Boulevard (Exit 28).

FDOT says electronic message boards and temporary signs will be placed to help travelers navigate detours around the closure.
According to officials, the following roads will remain open as possible detour routes for drivers:
- Gandy Boulevard
- Dale Mabry Highway
- Roosevelt Boulevard
- Bayside Bridge
- Courtney Campbell Causeway
- Memorial Highway

FDOT says the road closures are necessary for crews to install overhead sign structures as part of the ongoing project to expand the Howard Frankland Bridge project between Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
