Parents from Salado, Texas, honored their son, who has Down syndrome, in the sweetest way when they got “chromosome” tattoos on February 10.

Chip and Laura Franks got the matching ink for their young son Alec. Photos tweeted by their daughter Mandy show the tattooist in action, and have since gone viral.

She wrote in a follow-up tweet that she and her family are aware the tattoo isn’t an accurate representation of the 21st chromosome, associated with Down syndrome, and that the ink is merely a symbol of their love of their son.
