A Pasco County family is fortunate they're all alive after a car plowed into their home Tuesday night, injuring three people.

Florida Highway Patrol investigators said Robert Doty, 22, was driving down Lido Lane in Port Richey, went straight across Sandalwood Drive and crashed into a home at the end of the block.

The vehicle hit a mother and father who were in their bedroom.

"It's about five minutes to nine and all of a sudden I just, I heard a big boom," said John Zore, a son of the victims, who was also in the home. "It just keeps replaying in my head, like, what if I would have lost my parents last night? I would have been by myself."

Neighbors heard the crash and came running.

"It's a miracle. Sometimes they have their granddaughter staying over, sleeping with them and stuff like that. It could have been really tragic," said Frank Saraceni, who lives next door.

Investigators said Doty ran away, leaving behind his injured passenger, identified as Yana Turco, 30, who is expected to by okay.

Troopers tracked down Doty at his home about two minutes away and arrested him.

Zore said his parents, Michael and Tory Wolter, are recovering; his mother had some cuts and bruises while his father will needed surgery to repair two broken bones in his leg.

"Now it's just a process of recuperating and getting everything back to normal," he said. "It's a very scary sight for someone to realize that you almost lost your family."

Doty is facing a hit and run charge. He's also facing a probation violation charge stemming from a 2014 robbery arrest.
