Police: Tinder date leads to sexual battery charge
TAMPA (FOX 13) - A man is accused of sexually battering a woman he met on the social media app Tinder.
Tampa police say 31-year-old Mustafa Akbar forced the woman to the ground, on her stomach, and sexually battered her.
It happened June 25, police say, after the two met in person for the first time at Akbar's apartment on Westshore Boulevard.
They had become acquainted on the dating app Tinder before deciding to meet. After the alleged battering, the woman left his apartment and went straight to police.
The victim was taken to a nurse examiner for a sexual battery exam. The next day, police decided there was probable cause to arrest Akbar.
Tampa Police Detective J. Sustek went to Akbar's apartment, interviewed him, and took him to central booking. Akbar faces a charge of sexual battery, with a bond of $7,000.
