Rescue of hiding pup shuts down lanes on I-275 in Pinellas

A dog that crawled underneath a Road Ranger truck prompted lane closures on I-275 in St. Petersburg early Wednesday during efforts to retrieve him.

The little white dog appeared scared and emaciated as he hid underneath the truck. It happened on southbound I-275 near the Pinellas Point Dr. entrance ramp around 4:30 a.m.

A lane was blocked while the Florida Highway Patrol called Pinellas Animal Services to help bring him to safety.

The director of animal services says the pup has no microchip or tag and will wait to see if his owner comes forward. After that, they will have to evaluate him for adoption.
