Red-light runner blamed for Dade City crash that injured 6

Troopers say an elderly driver ran a red light in Dade City, causing a crash that injured several people.

It was just after noon Thursday when Christine Louise Rock of Dade City was heading north on U.S. 301. The 77-year-old ran the red light at Centennial Road, the FHP report says, then slammed into an SUV making a left-hand turn.

First responders described the crash as "severe." Five people were inside the SUV – a 72-year-old man, a 67-year-old woman, and three kids, ages 8, 6, and 1.

The extent of their injuries was not clear, but all five were hospitalized.

Rock, 77, was also hospitalized. She was cited for running the red light.
