Man arrested after trying to fight arson investigator at scene of fire: HCSO

A man is facing criminal charges after trying to fight an arson investigator at the scene of a fire involving two mobile homes, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

What we know:

According to HCSO, firefighters responded to a fire call around 6 a.m. Friday in the area of Robson Ave. in Seffner.

Hillsborough County deputies arrested a man who they say tried to fight an arson investigator at the scene of a fire in Seffner early Friday.

Deputies said when an arson investigator with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue arrived on the scene, a man near the fires tried to fight the investigator.

The investigator pulled a gun, officials said, forcing fire crews to stay back until law enforcement could take the suspect into custody.

Firefighters got the flames under control within 30 minutes, HCFR said. No injuries were reported.

What they're saying:

Alan Hancock told FOX 13 he saw the fire from a barbershop across the street and called for 911.

"I heard what I think was a man yelling for another man to get out," Hancock said, adding the response to the scene grew from there.

What we don't know:

Officials have not released the suspect's name or charges. They also haven't said what connection, if any, the suspect may have had to the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
