TPD offering free gun safety classes
TAMPA (FOX 13) - Police in Tampa are hoping free gun-safety classes will help reduce the number of gun thefts and prevent accidental shootings.
The Tampa Police Department is offering four firearm safety and storage seminars. They are careful to point out that this is not a concealed weapons permit class, instead describing them as “beginner-level classes” that will teach basic firearm handling techniques, the importance of practicing responsible gun ownership, and secure storage device options.
Participants will be eligible to receive a $50 voucher toward the purchase of a firearm storage and safety device from Shooters World.
The seminars are available only to Tampa residents age 21 and older. Attendees must preregister online here: www.tampagov.net/tampa-police-firearm-safety-and-storage-seminar
Seminar schedule:
August 21, 6:30 p.m. – 10065 Cross Creek Blvd.
