Trooper shoots, kills suspect at Florida hospital: Police
OCALA, Fla. - A man who was in custody at an Ocala hospital was shot to death by a state trooper on Friday morning, according to police.
What we know:
It happened shortly before 3 a.m. at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital located at 1431 SE 1st Avenue in Ocala.
The Ocala Police Department says it sent officers to the hospital after a detail officer requested assistance.
Police say a Florida Highway Patrol trooper was involved in a physical altercation with a suspect who was in custody. The confrontation escalated and the trooper shot and killed the suspect, according to OPD.

No law enforcement or hospital staff were injured.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement was requested by the FHP to investigate the officer-involved shooting.
What we don't know:
It is unclear why the suspect was in custody, what the suspect's injuries were or what led up to the altercation.
