Winter Haven shooting leaves one dead, one injured
WINTER HAVEN (FOX 13) - The Polk County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly shooting in Winter Haven.
Sheriff Grady Judd says Sunday around 6:20 p.m. the suspect shot two people following an argument.
It happened in the 1000 block of Carefree Cove Drive.
Nasir Sutton, 23, died at the scene, and Bennie Joyner, 38, is in critical condition. He underwent surgery Sunday night at a hospital.
Sutton’s mother says her son loved his family, and was a kind soul ,but was going through a rough patch in life.
The sheriff says “many” shots were fired and they don’t know what the argument was over. "This was some kind of dispute. We don't know what kind of dispute. I can tell you from a great amount of investigative experience that it's gonna be either, drugs, alcohol, women, or money," he said.
Many witnesses heard the gunshots and deputies will remain on the scene throughout the night interviewing them as others work to track down the gunman.
