Wounded veterans attend adaptive sports camp in Tampa
TAMPA (FOX 13) - A two-day program of adaptive sports brought a dozen injured veterans to Tampa to learn and play various sports adapted to their physical needs.
The gathering, sponsored by the Wounded Warrior Project, connects wounded veterans with each other and provides a chance to learn about the many benefits of adaptive sports.
Veterans took the ice in Wesley Chapel Tuesday to learn the rules and skills of sled hockey.
During the two-day program, the veterans will also play adaptive softball, basketball, and tennis.
Through exercise, socialization, competition, and camaraderie, the veterans who take part reinforce their determination to live full, productive lives in spite of their injuries.
