A wrong-way driver involved in two hit-and-runs was arrested by Tampa police.

On Wednesday, around midnight, Tampa police received a report from Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office of a wrong-way driver on the Veteran’s Expressway. Several 911 calls came in reporting a vehicle driving southbound in the northbound lanes of the toll road, according to a media release.

The 911 calls came in just 10 minutes before lines went down after a Frontier Communications outage in most of Tampa Bay.

Police say they began searching for the vehicle, and then learned of a hit-and-run crash near the Veteran’s Expressway near Interstate 275. When units were responding to the crash, they learned of a new hit-and-run crash involving the same vehicle near South Dale Mabry and Horatio Street.

The suspected vehicle was found in the drive-thru land of a McDonald’s near South Dale Mabry and El Prado Boulevard, according to Tampa police. Investigators say the driver, identified as 43-year-old Daniel Livoti, showed signs of impairment and was charged with DUI and hit and run. There were no injuries to the crash victims, police say.
