Clearwater Central Catholic tight end being highly recruited by top programs

The recruiting letters have been pouring in for months for Clearwater Central Catholic tight end Brett Seither, one of the most sought-after players in the Tampa Bay area.

Brett had some nice offers from middle-tier Division I programs, but after passing on early signing day back in December, he has seen his recruiting skyrocket.

"I transferred down here [from Maryland] right before my junior year and never really imagined this,” he told FOX 13. “I never played varsity football before I got down here. It's all been just a whirlwind since then."

Alabama, Georgia, Louisville, Maryland and Michigan State are just a few of the top college programs that have made house visits to Brett in the last few weeks.

"I think I've narrowed it down to the top six: TCU, Michigan State, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Alabama and then Penn State,” he said.

Brett has only played football for Clearwater Central Catholic for two seasons, but at 6 feet, 5 inches tall and 230 pounds, he has a high ceiling.

Given that all the other top-ranked tight ends in the nation are committed to colleges already, Brett has put himself in high demand. He has the pick of some of the best programs in the country, so what is he looking for?

"Just where I feel comfortable,” Brett said. "Where I feel I can really just put my head down and go to work."

He has just two official visits left that he's allowed to take, per NCAA rules.

Brett said he will visit the University of Georgia this weekend, and then has the tough decision of deciding between Alabama and Penn State for his final official visit.

"After I take my last visit I think I'll probably have a good idea,” he said.

Brett remains humble despite all the attention. Right now, he's just enjoying this incredible moment.

"Every college you go to is going to have nice facilities and nice uniforms and stuff like that,” he said. "It's all going to wow you. But I think at the end of the day [it’s about] just making my parents proud and going on these visits with them. Seeing them smile. They're proud of me. They're happy for me. That's probably the biggest thing for me."
