How El Niño, 'freakish' warm oceans may impact hurricane season

It's the first El Niño year since 2019. The climate event can have significant impacts on the weather, including the Pacific and Atlantic hurricane seasons.

FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber says there are a number of tropical waves working their way across the Atlantic and added that a disturbance has formed off the coast of Africa. Weber says that the system has a 20 percent chance of developing in a week or so but says it won?t likely have much fanfare and may just produce some showers. However, he adds that it does have the potential to strengthen as it heads into the Caribbean or Atlantic toward the end of next week.
