Tropical Storm Bonnie to make landfall Sunday morning

(FOX 13) - The second named storm of 2016 made its way up the east coast Saturday and would make landfall Sunday morning, according to FOX 13 Chief Meteorologist Paul Dellegatto. 

Tropical Storm Bonnie was about 120 SE of Beufort, South Carolina at 5 p.m. Saturday. Dellegattos said it would make landfall Sunday morning, with winds around 40 miles-per-hour. But the storm will quickly weaken as it comes over land. 

The main concern for those visiting beaches near Charleston during the Memorial Day weekend will be heavy rains, wind and rough seas.

Bonnie is the second named storm of 2016. Hurricane Alex was the first, when it formed in the Atlantic in early January. Alex was the first  Atlantic hurricane to form in January since 1955. This year is the first time there have been two named storms before June 1 since 2012.
