CORTEZ (FOX 13) - The Florida Maritime Museum takes pride in the local fishing industry.
The museum is sponsored by the Manatee County Clerk of Circuit Courts, and is situated on almost four acres of land. It was founded on the importance of the regional commercial fishing industry.
FMM tells a number of stories pertinent to all aspects of Florida’s maritime history. Exhibits include historic photographs, boat models, tools, instruments and other historic artifacts. The museum also features a large collection of shells from the Gulf of Mexico.
Along with their permanent exhibits, they have a visiting exhibit called, “The Greek Communities of Tarpon Springs and the Bahamas: An Intertwined History.”
