A shopping center went up in flames last night, leaving nothing but broken glass, and blackened walls this morning.

The three-alarm fire started around 9 p.m. at the Big and Deals Supercenter at 40th Street and Hillsborough Avenue.  It took crews three hours to bring the flames under control.

Four people were working inside when it started.  They all managed to get out safely.

There were some concerns that the roof could collapse, so Tampa Fire Rescue called for backup.

As soon as the building is safe to enter, the fire marshal's office will being its investigation into how the fire started.
