A death investigation is underway in Lakeland at the scene of a mobile home fire.

It was around 11 a.m. when crews were called to the Citrus Center Colony mobile home park, where a unit on Tangelo Street was on fire.  Neighbors had reported a loud explosion preceded the flames.

The blaze was initially so intense that it threatened nearby homes.  When firefighters could finally enter the home, they found the body of an adult inside.

He was tentatively identified as Clinton Allen Faulkner, 36, who lived in the home.

Now, fire department investigators are working to figure out what started the fire while Lakeland police will try to determine Faulkner's cause of death.

"Chemical agents are suspected on site so extra precautions are being taken by investigators," a fire department statement added.
