Booker High School teacher arrested for child porn

The Sarasota Police Department arrested a Booker High School teacher for alleged possession of child pornography.

SPD, with a warrant from the Palmetto Police Department, arrested math teacher Quentin Peterson, 25, Tuesday.

A statement from Sarasota County Schools says "it appears as if none of the students at Booker High School were impacted by his actions."

Peterson was placed on administrative leave and will have no interaction with students during an investigation into the charges against him.

The school system says Peterson has been employed with Sarasota County Schools since February 28, 2018 and did not have a history of criminal charges.

He was a teacher at Lincoln Middle School in Palmetto in the past.

Peterson was given a $50,000 bond.

The investigation is being led by the Palmetto Police Department.
