Dead marine life washes up on several Pinellas Co. beaches

Pinellas County said crews were working to clean up dead fish that washed up on several beaches Saturday.

Cleanup was underway on St. Pete Beach, north to Redington Beach, as well as Clearwater Beach and offshore in Clearwater Pass.

The county said contractors were cleaning up the dead marine life and more resources were being deployed Sunday through Tuesday.

The county said water samples were collected at multiple sites Saturday and tested for K. brevis, the red tide organism.

The results are as follows:

-Pass-a-Grille Beach – very low

-Madeira Beach – high

-John’s Pass – medium

- Park Blvd Boat Ramp - not present

- Belleair Boat Ramp – medium

- Clearwater Pass – medium

Parks including Ft. DeSoto, Sand Key Park, and Fred Howard Park reported no dead fish, odors, or discolored water Saturday.
