It’s a wild day for Animal Control officers in Citrus County.  First, they found a stray parrot, and now they’re trying to help nine pot-bellied pigs get back home.

According to the sheriff’s office, the red-and-white parrot was found along Bluebird Terrace in the Leisure Acres area of Lecanto.  They said the parrot was hand-tamed and appeared to be someone’s pet.

Later, deputies say, Animal Control Officers found a momma pot-bellied cross pig – along with eight babies – on Appian Street in Homosassa.

Deputies say they;ve since heard from the owner of the parrot, but they'd still like to get the little porkers back home.  Anyone with information is asked to call the non-emergency line at (352) 726-1121.
