Dogs injured in house fire released from BluePearl

TAMPA (FOX 13) - Three dogs that suffered from smoke inhalation after being trapped in a burning house were released from  BluePearl Veterinary Partners hospital New Year's Day. 

BluePearl vets said Cache, Cyl and Emma made a full recovery after the December 18 fire.

U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Alex Rodriguez is the dogs' owner. He expressed gratitude to the vets at BluePearl and those who donated more than $10,000 to Frankie's Friends, which helped pay for the dogs' care.

Airman Rodriguez said he lost everything in the fire at his West Carmen Street rental home.

Dr. Miryam Reems helped oversee the dogs' care. She said caring for the dogs was a collaborative effort, which brought the best possible outcome for Cyl, Cache and Emma.

"You think that you're getting one doctor but you're really getting 50 because we work as a team," Dr. Reems explained. 

While at BluePearl, all three dogs got emergency oxygen and antibiotics to ward off pneumonia. The dogs were all healthy enough to leave the hospital's intensive care unit Dec. 28, but Rodriguez needed to find a new home for his furry family members.
