Family connection draws volunteer hep at Metropolitan Ministries

It's a busy time of year at Metropolitan Ministries, which is taking care of the thousands in need this holiday season.

"Imagine what it would be like to be poor, maybe homeless, to have no food, and to not be able to provide for your family and your children," said volunteer Carolyn Marshall. "The thought of a child without a toy at Christmas is really heartbreaking."

She is grateful to help Metropolitan Ministries.

They assisted her cousin years ago when he struggled with alcoholism and homelessness.

"I felt like I just wanted to represent the family and give back to the ministry to thank them," said Marshall.

She is now part of the mission to lift up other families, the way Metropolitan Ministries lifted up her cousin when he needed it the most.

"This program at metropolitan ministries does so much for the community and they do it because they get the support of the community," said Carolyn.

FOX 13 is hosting a food and toy drive for Metropolitan Ministries at Armature Works on Friday, December 14 from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. In addition, Armature Works will be hosting a fun, family-friendly event, the Heights Holiday Festival from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

The drive and festival continue at Armature Works on Saturday, December 15 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Armature Works is located at 1910 N Ola Ave, Tampa, FL 33602.
