Family plans memorial for sisters lost in crash
The family of three sisters killed in a serious crash Sunday night are planning a public memorial in their honor.
India, Tehira, and LaMour Welch were heading home from their church's state conference, along with their friend, Antwayne Robinson, when the crash happened.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers said a pick-up truck heading in the other direction, driven by a woman named Jennifer Zuniga, spun out of control and hit their car.
The Welch sisters and Robinson did not survive, and neither did Zuniga.
The only survivor was a 6-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the truck. He was rushed to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition, where he remains Tuesday morning.
The Welch sisters were from St. Petersburg, where their father is the pastor at Prayer Tower Church of God in Christ.
"It is unimaginable. I can't even express into words how my heart hurts,” Pastor Welch said Monday. “Anybody that knows me, knows I love my babies. I love my girls."
Pastor welch is planning a celebration of life concert for later this week, followed by the sisters’ wake Friday evening and the funeral on Saturday.
The events will be open to the public.
The family has also started a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral costs. Click here to visit the page.
